The City Worships

The City Worships — An Evening of Worship & Prayer held Thursday, 5 February 2026 at the McDonald Jones Stadium, Broadmeadow Room.

Thank you to everyone who served and to all who gathered. Worship was led by Pastor Stuart Brown (The Grainery), supported by Beth Gleeson (HOPEUC) and David Fotu.

Pastor Rick Prosser led the ‘gathered church’ of 300 people, representing a rich diversity of denominations and Christian organisations, united in heart and mind to pray for the people of the Hunter Region.

Prayers were led by pastors Emma Griffin, Pam O’Dea, Steve Troyer, Sue Irwin, Sam Hilton, and Chris Gleeson, each bringing a deep sense of faith, humility, and love for our region.

Let us continue to pray for our region throughout 2026, believing together for all that God desires to do among us.

Join us!

One heart, one voice and one mind.

The Regional Worship and Prayer Gathering was established by a team of ministers and Christian leaders on the 31 January 2019, 6pm at the McDonald Jones Stadium (Broadmeadow Room). A 150 believers gathered to worship God, honour His Name and pray for the people of the Hunter Region.

In 2020 just prior to the pandemic lock downs the second Regional Worship and Prayer Gathering was held again at the McDonald Jones Stadium (Broadmeadow Room). On the 30 January, 300+ packed into the venue and prayed fervently for an increased spiritual awakening across the region. As leaders prayed they called churches to a God given mandate of oneness and responsibility for the people of the region. In 2021 on the 28 January believers gathered at livesites, via zoom or listened on Rhema FM Newcastle as ministers from 9 churches and locations across the Hunter Region led the region in prayer. In 2022 and 2023 the gathering grew to 11 live sites with hundreds gathering in person and online to pray and declare hope and the Lord’s purpose over the region.

In 2025 we gathering again in worship and prayer for the city and region at Christ Church Cathedral and in 2026 at the McDonald Jones Stadium, Broadmeadow room.
