Kingdomworks Radio Programs

Stories of personal and city transformation hosted by Rick Prosser and Geraldine Baker on Rhema FM Newcastle. Friday 9:30am or Sunday 7pm on Rhema FM Newcastle.

Mayor of Cessnock, Daniel Watton

Daniel Watton – Parts 1 & 2 Looking at someone’s life — their family, career, and leadership — you might assume they’ve always had it together. But Daniel Watton’s story tells a very different journey. Daniel is a husband, father of five, business owner, and Mayor of Cessnock — but his early years were marked by hardship. Raised by a single mum, moving through foster care and refuges, his story could have taken a very different path. It was during those difficult years that Daniel encountered the Lord — a turning point that gave him hope and a future. You’ll be encouraged and inspired by Daniel’s story. No matter where life begins, there is hope.

We continue with Part 2 of Daniel Watton’s remarkable story. From a difficult childhood to now nearly 20 years of marriage, raising five children, running a business, and serving as Mayor of Cessnock, Daniel’s journey is a powerful reminder that hope can be found even in the hardest seasons. Daniel’s story is one of real transformation — proof that challenging beginnings can shape a bright and purposeful future.

Pastors Stu Brown and Sam Pilli

This week on Kingdomworks Radio, Rick is joined by Pastors Stu and Sam from The Grainery Church for a rich conversation around city, unity, and kingdom. Unity sits at the very heart of Jesus’ final prayer in John 17:21–23, and this discussion reflects that call as the leaders share insights from ministry life and recent regional gatherings.  Pastor Sam reflects on the faith of his home church in India, sharing the conviction that “it is time to break down walls and come together and stand in unity and oneness.” Pastor Stu adds that the post-COVID season has created a deeper willingness among leaders to lay down past differences and keep Jesus firmly at the centre. Be encouraged by this honest and hope-filled conversation as it explores what can happen when churches choose relationship, humility, and shared mission for the good of the city.

Zoe’s Place with Dana

Miscarriage and unplanned pregnancies can bring deep grief, emotional trauma, and, for many women, a profound sense of loneliness. But no one has to walk that journey alone. Dana and the team at Zoe’s Place are there to listen, offering kind counsel and practical support in a safe, caring environment. Join us this week as we talk about the important work happening at Zoe’s Place and the hope available for women facing these difficult circumstances. Learn more at: zoesplace.org.au

Jerome, Fred and Immaculee

In December last year, we shared the story of Jerome Rugaruza and a family of three seeking to finally end a refugee journey that began back in 1997 — with the hope of settling in Newcastle.

Well, the good news is… they’ve arrived!

This week, Rick is joined by Jerome and our newest friends to the city, Fred and Immaculee, as we celebrate a journey fulfilled and hear firsthand what it means to find home, safety, and hope at last.

Josh Levey (Part 2)

Join us for part 2 of the extraordinary story of Josh Levey. Throughout the month of January Josh surfed 7,000 waves and, in the process, raised over $110,000 whilst battling food poisoning on the final day. His story speaks of courage, determination and sacrifice pushing his body to the limits and honouring The Lord throughout! At 21 Josh is an inspirational role model and an impressive young man.

Josh Levey (Part 1)

Jan 30 – Josh Levey 5000 waves

Josh Levey is an incredible young man — and not a bad surfer either!
Throughout January, Josh took on an epic challenge: riding 5,000 waves to raise $100,000 for local charity Soul Hub. And just when that sounded wild enough… he lifted the goal to 7,000 waves! This week on the program, be inspired by Josh’s determination, generosity, and heart to make a real difference in his community.

His fundraising page is HERE if you would like to sponsor him.

Pastor Stuart Brown

Prayer and worship are central expressions of the Body of Christ. When we come together in corporate unity, something beautiful happens — a fuller, Spirit-formed expression of Christ’s body comes into view (Ephesians 4:4–6; Psalm 133).  There is a warm invitation to every church and every believer across our region to gather for a time of united worship and prayer. On  Thursday 5th FebruaryThe City Worships  will be a beautiful offering to our great God — a moment for believers to lift one voice in praise and to pray God’s purposes into the year ahead.

Jerome Rugaruza

Many of us have been blessed to grow up in safe and secure environments. It’s hard to imagine the plight of a refugee — to flee your homeland and endure a journey that lasts years before finding safety in a foreign land. Jerome Rugaruza’s story is remarkable. This is a story worth hearing — and perhaps, one you can be part of. Listen in to hear Jerome’s inspiring journey and find out how you can help. Pastor Steve Troyer

“Are People Open to God?”
Are people in our community truly open to God? There’s a perception that many are closed or even resistant to the things of God — but that’s simply not the case. More than ever, people are open, curious, and searching.
This week, Rick catches up with Pastor Steve Troyer from New Vine Lakes, who shares powerful stories of what God is doing in everyday lives — including moments that can only be described as divine encounters.
Don’t miss the first part of this inspiring two-part conversation.

CAP CEO Rosie Kendall

Financial distress is widespread in our communities, and its impact on individuals and families can be devastating. Many churches and Christians want to help but often don’t know how to walk alongside people in a way that truly empowers them toward financial freedom.

Christians Against Poverty (CAP) exists to equip and empower the Church in this vital area. Based right here in the Hunter Region, CAP is a national ministry well worth connecting with to explore how your church could partner with them. t might just become one of the most practical and life-changing outreach ministries your church ever engages in.

Steve Sutton (Part 2.)

In this second part of the story, Steve Sutton, pioneer of Soul Hub, shares the journey that changed everything for their church — a bold decision that continues to create powerful ripple effects more than 30 years later.

Be encouraged and inspired by the courage of a few, and reminded of what can happen when faith and action come together.

Steve Sutton (Part 1.)

Kingdomworks Radio – October 24
Guest: Steve Sutton (Part 1)

“If your church closed tomorrow, would the community miss it?”

That’s the confronting question Steve Sutton once asked his Life Church leadership team — and it changed everything.

In this week’s episode, you’ll be inspired by how seriously they took that challenge and what grew out of it. That single question became the catalyst for Soul Hub — a movement that, three decades on, continues to meet deep community needs with compassion and care.

Pastor Sam Broadfoot

“This week, we continue celebrating the gift of church planting in our region! Out of All Saints ANEW, under the leadership of Arthur Copeman, a new expression of faith has taken root. The Foundry Church has launched, led by Sam Broadfoot and a passionate team committed to serving the western side of our city. What makes this so inspiring is not just the launch itself, but the heart behind it—the generosity of the ANEW community, willing to release and bless a new team for the sake of the Kingdom. It’s a reminder that when churches choose to give rather than hold on, everyone wins. The Foundry Church is good news for Wallsend and good news for Newcastle—a living example of Kingdom thinking in action.”
