2024 RECAP
The 5th Lake Macquarie Mayor’s Prayer Evening, held on 10th September 2024. It was a relaxed and uplifting evening, as civic, church, business, and charity leaders gathered in unity to pray for their city and honor the legacy of mayor Kay Fraser.
Worship was led by Beth and Chris Gleeson, along with the team from HOPE UC. The evening was hosted by Pastor Mindy from Macquarie Life Church.
Prayers were shared by Rev. Mel Whalley from Toronto Anglican Church, Cr. Kate Warner of Lake Macquarie City, and Terrie and Burnie Muendel from Eastlakes Salvos. The Most Rev. Michael Kennedy, Bishop of Maitland-Newcastle, led everyone in a prayer of blessing for the people of Lake Macquarie.
Beneficiary – Foster Carer Initiative (Allambi and Catholic Care)
Mayor Kay Fraser selected the joint Allambi and Catholic Care foster carer initiative as the beneficiary of the evening. The number of children in the Hunter waiting for a home is both tragic and heartbreaking. Thanks to the generous support of sponsors and guests, $16,635 was raised. The funds will be used to raise awareness of the need for foster carers.
Together, let us “Work for the well-being of the city… ” (Jeremiah 29:7) so that people from all walks of life in our city can flourish. Open hearts and open homes… “God sets the lonely in families…” (Psalm 68:6a).
