REGIONAL WORSHIP & PRAYER GATHERING
28 JANUARY, 2021 7PM – 8PM
There is something very powerful when believers from many church traditions and backgrounds gather for times of prayer and worship. Join with believers from around the Hunter Region for a dynamic expression of the Church. In 2021 believers from across the Hunter Region gathered to pray at live sites, online and through the Rhema FM Newcastle broadcast of the program. Ministers from 9 locations across the region led the gathered Body of Christ in prayer for the region. “Our diversity be our point of celebration” and that together in oneness we fulfil the words of Jesus Christ in John 17:23. CHRIST CHURCH CATHEDRAL NEWCASTLE
Prayers Led By: The Reverend Angela Peverell the Sub Dean of Christ Church Cathedral
Scripture: Matthew 6:9-15
This is the Lord’s Prayer adapted by St Francis of Assisi:
OUR Most Holy FATHER, Our Creator, Redeemer, Consoler and Saviour
WHO ARE IN HEAVEN: In the angels and the saints, enlightening them to love, because You, Lord, are light. Inflaming them to love, because you, Lord, are love. Dwelling in them and filling them with happiness, because you, Lord, are the Supreme Good, the Eternal Good from Whom comes all good without Whom there is no good.
HALLOWED BE YOUR NAME: May our knowledge of you become ever clearer That we may know the breadth of Your blessings the length of Your promises the height of Your majesty the depths of Your judgements.
YOUR KINGDOM COME: So that You may rule in us through Your grace and so enable us to come to Your kingdom where there is an unclouded vision of You a perfect love of You a blessed companionship with You an eternal enjoyment of You.
YOUR WILL BE DONE ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN: That we may love You with our whole heart by always thinking of You and with our whole soul by always desiring You with our whole mind by directing all our intentions to You and by seeking Your glory in everything and with our whole strength by spending all our energies and affections of soul and body in the service of Your love and of nothing else and may we love our neighbours as ourselves by drawing them all with our whole strength to Your love by rejoicing in the good fortunes of others as well as our own and by sympathising with the misfortunes of others and by giving offence to no one.
GIVE US THIS DAY: In memory and understanding, and reverence of the love which our Lord Jesus Christ had for us and of those things which He said and did and suffered for us.
OUR DAILY BREAD: Your own beloved Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.
AND FORGIVE US OUR TRESPASSES: Through Your ineffable mercy through the power of the passion of Your Beloved Son together with the merits and intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary and all your chosen ones.
AS WE FORGIVE THOSE WHO TRESPASS AGAINST US: and whatever we do not forgive perfectly, do You, Lord, enable us to forgive to the full so that we may truly love our enemies and fervently intercede for them before You returning no one evil for evil and striving to help everyone in You.
AND LEAD US NOT INTO TEMPTATION: Hidden or obvious Sudden or persistent.
BUT DELIVER US FROM EVIL: Past, present and to come. Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit As it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.

“We thank you that our testimony as the church will reflect your heart and your prayer, that our sense of unity in our attitude, in our language, in our actions, would truly carry this message into our world with a message of reconciliation that would draw people to Your beautiful gospel and would cause people to see you in us, as the apostle Paul said ‘imitate me as I imitate Christ’, I pray we would imitate this spirit of being one. Thank you that this would bring transformation into our city, our region and into our nation.” Wayne Williamson

Black and white, men and women, north and south, city and country, left and right, and whatever other division on earth, you bring us together as one all for the glory of Jesus… pray for Your blessing on the Church’s witness in the Hunter… that believers would be wise in the way we act towards outsiders, making the most of every opportunity… that conversations would be full of grace, seasoned with salt… pour out Your Spirit on the many lost sheep in the Hunter region… open their ears to hear the voice of the Good Shepherd Jesus… and fill them with joy and peace.”

HUNTER CHRISTIAN CHURCH
Prayers Led By: Mark Edwards (Hunter Christian Church) and Steve Troyer (New Vine Lakes Church)
Scripture: Isaiah 58:12
“… Thank you for the call you’ve given the church, to be the restorer of communities, the builder of cities, You’ve called us and You’ve placed us strategically to build up not pull down, to speak life and to speak strength and hope into our cities and communities and to bring the healing power of Jesus’ name into the places our feet tread. We acknowledge You are the one, You are the restorer, You are the builder, and You’ve given us that task, that mandate, to do the same.” Mark Edwards
“We declare that where foundations have been broken, that You would come and move powerfully amongst our families, amongst the church in reaching the community, that foundations would be rebuilt, centred on You, that Jesus Your name would be in the centre of everything that we move towards as a church and as we see communities restored we ask that there would be an outpouring of Your Spirit, that many would come to know You, that they would be restored completely, transformed into the fullness of everything that You have for them, we ask in the mighty name of Jesus.” Steve Troyer
“Jesus I thank You that Your Kingdom is an unshakable Kingdom and as we Your church establish Your House on Your foundations that we will build an unshakable Kingdom on earth as it is in Heaven, and those that have been struggling around our region, built on shifting sands, I pray that as they redirect their feet and anchor their feet upon Jesus the firm foundation I pray that their families, their homes, their cities, their businesses will stand strong in Jesus’ name.” Mark Edwards
Livesite 9: Muswellbrook
HOPE CITY CHURCH
Prayers Led By: Pastor Garth Belford (Hope City Church) accompanied by Pastor Timothy Lee (Muswellbrook Presbyterian)
Scripture: Acts 2:47
Thank you for this reminder tonight, that we are reminded of a partnership among Christians and churches in the gospel, and I thank You for the gospel, for reconciliation between You and us, and may we be people who proclaim the gospel to people around us so effectively by Your power, by Your Spirit, that many people would come to know Jesus, more and more…” Timothy Lee
Testimony from Garth: Back on April 14th he was diagnosed with bowel cancer, had 5 weeks of radiation and chemotherapy, travelling down every day to the Mater hospital, followed by a surgery that removed the cancer, a hernia and his appendix all at once. Now he’s on chemo tablets, taking 8 tablets a day, but only has 3 more rounds of that. He is carrying a stoma at the moment which is a challenge. God’s grace has been amazing all the way through, and he’s experienced His peace in his heart like never before and his family church have been amazing, gathering around and supporting him. God is good and his health is good – he got a report that there is not a trace of cancer in his body! Giving praise to God!
Other Prayers
“Thank you that You call us into unity with one another, and thank you for the way that has been displayed in this region and I know that blesses Your heart. I pray unity among believers will be strengthened this year… You are faithful and even in these crazy times You have been calling people back to Yourself… we want to give this year into Your hands, to be seeking You, how to be unified with one another, to be speaking to our neighbours, sharing truth and love with them. I pray that you would be leading us in the creative ways you always do… thank you that You call us into unity, You call us together, and we give this year into Your hands.” KATIE KAMAS (YWAM and part of a pioneering group for the launch of Hello Hunter)
“We pray that Your strategy would be outworked through the passionate prayers of Your people that just love Your kingdom and desire to see Your kingdom come in many ways. We pray for unity in the churches, we pray for Your will to be done in the churches, for fruitfulness in the churches… we believe there is a letter written for the Hunter region and beyond, just like in the book of Revelation, those 7 letters, we’re just trying to read what You’re saying about our regions and our churches in particular… we prophesy in part and we desire to hear from each other, we desire to hear from You, from the wisdom of the gathered that would come together and humbly submit to each other out of reverence for Christ… we pray that our prayers would be effectual – unless the Lord builds the house we labour in vain and I know there is a body represented through all these churches that you are building up in the most holy faith and that ever expanding Kingdom is coming in all many varied ways and thank you that we are seeing it in most wonderful ways through each church represented and bless them in the power of Jesus’ name to grasp how magnificent your love is towards the people that know not You yet but they shall in the coming days and we thank You that we are all doing our part for those ones to be saved for 2021 and we pray for resurrection power to every ministry, all the leader groups, all the congregational members, we call them back into the frontline of serving You and willingly giving their time, their heart to You, in the day of power Your people will volunteer, and we know it’s happening now and continuing to happen and we thank You for that Jesus, Amen!” PHIL OLDFIED (Pastor C3 Church Tuggerah)
“Thank you for the men and the women that you have called into your service through the education department, through childcare, through local government, through welfare workers and people that work in the health department. Thank you for those frontline workers, for those who have had the courage and bravery to put their hand up and say ‘I will go’ to the places that you have called them, thank you for their obedience, thank you for their faithfulness.. I pray you would continue to give them strength and Your empowerment and your grace to do what You have called them to do, especially in areas where they are being challenged and where it’s becoming difficult to share their faith through chaplaincy and scripture teaching. I pray that you would continue to open doors before them that no-one can shut, that You would give them a favour that is undeniable to see Your word go out to the children and the young people and families across the Hunter who so desperately need the hope of Your gospel Lord, we lift these people to You and thank You that You have given them all that they need in order to fulfil the calling you have placed upon their life, I pray for Your peace to guard their hearts and their minds in Christ Jesus, that they would fix their eyes on You, that they would have people around them to encourage them and spur them on if they are flagging, and that Your presence is within them, goes before them, is preparing the way for them, give them a perseverance not to give up because the world needs the gifts and the talents that they bring, particularly the Hunter needs the gifts and the talents they bring because You are calling Your children back to Yourself and we thank You for their work, bless their hands, bless their feet that carry Your word and Your light and Your hope, into the places that are lost and full of darkness, thank You that Your light shines, and we commit them to You in Your name Jesus, Amen.” JASMINE RUIGROK (schools and scripture union)

Closing prayer and benediction
We firmly believe that a united church will usher in something Sovereign from the Lord from Heaven, here on earth. Perhaps our unity might be one of the purest forms of Heaven on earth.
Benediction: “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.” Numbers 6:24-26
